Edward Theodore Chalmers Werner was a noted British diplomat in Peking, in the 1880’s and a student interpreter. He was a sinologist specializing in superstitions, myths and magic in China. In Chinese Weapons Werner provides many descriptions of the weapons used in ancient China, along with sketches to help explain those weapons, including some of the odder weapons. The author also traces the origins and development of a wide array of weaponry.
