This is the prequel to Ip Man #1 and Ip Man #2. It is the story of Ip man before he became a master and his indenture to his two masters Yu Hang and Leung Pik. Featured in the film is a spectacular fight between the star and Ip Man's eldest son Ip Chun. Also playing an important role is Sammo Hung who really shows how good he actually is.
