Performed in real time by Larry Tatum, 7th degree black belt, is
the first short form 1, taught to Kenpo students. This beginner
kata was developed to teach how to retreat from an opponent.
Tatum breaks each move down and explains its use, which he
later demonstrates on his assistants. Helpful points are
explained, like making eye contact with an opponent, never
exposing your back if possible, how to block while retreating,
using crisp moves, snap and torque, to name a few.
